When managing an opencart website sometimes we need a new page or a custom page to place a module or other content, and now we will try to create a new page using category pages and place a module on that page.
In this Steps example I will create a “Latest Products” page using categories, well here are the steps:
1. Make sure you have added and activated the “Latest” module in the admin
2. Create a new Layout in admin -> Design -> Layouts -> click on the plus sign button in the top right corner to create a new Layout. For example, give the name "New Products" and in the Top Content section add the "Latest" module.
3. Create a new category on the admin page.
admin -> Catalog -> Categories -> click on the plus sign button in the top right corner to create a new category. In the General tab, just enter the category name "Latest Products" and the meta tag title "Latest Products", in the Data tab make sure the "Stores" section is selected, and check the "Top" section so that the menu link of this page will also appear in the menu bar on the front page, set the status to enabled, and in the SEO tab please enter the SEO as desired, and then this is the most important thing in the "Design" tab in the Layout Override section, make sure to select the pre-made Layout "New Products". Then Save.
If you have followed the steps above, the result will be as shown below:
If you look at the picture above, it can be seen that a new custom page has been created, but at the bottom there is still the heading text "Latest Product", "There are no products to list in this category" and the continue button. And to get rid of these texts, you can use the free "Clean Category Page" module which you can download here:
