This extension will add new/additional layout position for opencart modules, it's "Content Header" and "Content Footer".

the "Content Header" position is on top below the top bar category menu and above the "Content Top".

and the "Content Footer" position is on bottom above the footer and below the "Content Bottom".

If you want to have slideshow banner or other modules full width above or below the left or right column, then you can use this module.
